Grimoire is an AI-powered spell crafting application for witches, occultists, and spiritual practitioners. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how your data is handled.
This policy applies to all users of the Grimoire mobile application.
Data We Collect
Grimoire collects and stores the following data locally on your device:
Spell intentions and crafted spell results
Practice mode preferences (Standard / Mature) and content filters
Natal chart information (birth date, time, and location) if you choose to provide it
Premium subscription status
Usage counts (number of spells crafted)
We do not collect or store any of this data on our servers. Everything remains on your device.
How Your Data Is Used
Your data is used exclusively to provide the spell crafting service:
Spell intentions and preferences are sent to the AI service (OpenAI) to generate spell content. This data is transmitted securely and is not stored permanently by the AI service beyond the duration of the request.
Natal chart birth information is sent to the AI service to generate your astrological profile and personalise spell recommendations.
All generated spells and settings are stored only on your device using local storage. We do not maintain a server-side database of your personal data.
We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Storage & Security
All personal data (spells, preferences, natal chart) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. No personal data is stored on our servers. Data transmitted to the AI service for spell generation is encrypted in transit via HTTPS and is not retained after processing.
Third-Party Services
Grimoire uses the following third-party services:
OpenAI — Used to generate spell content and natal chart interpretations. When you craft a spell or generate a natal chart, your spell intention, mode preferences, natal chart data (if provided), and inventory items (if applicable) are sent to OpenAI. Their data handling is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store / Google Play — Subscriptions for Grimoire Pro are processed directly by Apple (StoreKit) on iOS and Google (Play Billing) on Android. Grimoire does not collect or store payment information. Purchase verification is handled on-device by the platform store. Their data handling is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and similar privacy laws, you have the following rights:
Right to Know: You can view all data stored by this app in your device's local storage.
Right to Delete: You can delete any or all of your data at any time using the controls in the app's Privacy & Data screen.
Right to Opt Out: Since we do not sell your personal information, there is no "sale" to opt out of. You can stop using AI features at any time.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
Right to Data Portability: Your data is stored locally and you maintain full control over it.
Do Not Sell My Information: Grimoire does not sell personal information to any third party.
Children's Privacy
Grimoire is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions where the GDPR applies). The Mature mode contains content intended for adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
